If you are looking for an experienced professional that can take control of your business records and help guide your business with easy to understand language you have come to the right place.

Preparation of tax returns for single individuals, married couples, common-law relationships, separated couples, divorced or widowed individuals, and final tax returns for deceased persons.

Returns may include employment income, pensions, pension splitting, investment income, capital gains and losses, business income, medical expenses, donations and more.

Preparation of tax returns for Canadian controlled private companies conducting active business operations or simply acting as a holding company.

Corporate tax returns are complex and I strongly encourage business owners to use the services of a professionally designated accountant.  There are simply a myriad of tax rules and tax rates to understand.

Understanding the profitability of your business and its financial health is key information that will help put you on the road to business success.

Statements of income show the profitability of your business.  Has the business made a profit?  Is there sufficient 'bottom line' to pay down debts, fund new equipment purchases, or allow for owner remuneration?

Statements of financial position show the financial health of your business. What it owns, what it owes, and what is 'left over' at a particular point in time.  The relationship of what is owned to what is owed can critically affect a business' ability to carry on business effectively.

An important part of any business operation is proper attention to bookkeeping!
Good bookkeeping provides the owner with reliable and timely financial information, that assists with making appropriate, informed business decisions.

In addition, it can save you money by  helping ensure that supplier payment deadlines are not missed and that only the correct amounts are paid; that government filings are made on time so that penalties and interest are avoided; and that employee payroll is processed properly and in a timely manner.

Hi, I'm Deborah Jones and I'm excited to help you with your tax needs.

Deborah Jones, CPA is my home based company in the beautiful Maple Bay region of Vancouver Island. If you're looking for an experienced accountant, I'm here to help!

I received my professional designation in 1987 and have worked as a public professional accountant in the Cowichan Valley for over 20 years. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to assist many individuals with their tax and business affairs. Some of you may know me from my time as a partner of the firm Jones, Rigolet and Company Inc.

Over the years I have worked with a wide variety of business owners including those involved in the following industries:  health services, landscaping, restaurants, pubs, building construction, not for profits, registered charities, commercial building rental, commercial fishing, and more.

For individuals needing help with personal income tax returns, I have prepared and/or reviewed thousands of tax returns in my career.  Whether you are single, married, common law or separated, I can assist you with meeting your tax filing obligations.

In addition to my work as a public accountant, I worked for a number of years in both private industry and financial services. I've spent 10 years working as an accountant for several businesses in the retail sector and 5 years working as a controller/manager for a local credit union.  This 'hands-on' experience has given me the unique perspective of understanding many of the day-to-day issues and concerns that business owners face.

I look forward to meeting you!

Can I still file my taxes with you?

Yes.  Of course.  There are several options available to you for getting your tax information to me.  As follows:

Send your documents electronically.  If you do not wish to attend my office in person, you can submit your tax documents electronically to me using my confidential email service.  Please contact me and I will provide you with a link.

Can I just drop off my tax info?

Yes, you can.  I have installed a mailbox by the front door that can accept packages measuring up to 3/4 inch x 12 inches.  You can pop your documents into an envelope and drop them in the mailbox.

Can I come see you in person?

Yes, with some precautionary measures.  If you are in self-quarantine, if you have covid symptoms, if you have been in contact with someone who has recently been out of the country, is in quarantine, or has covid symptoms, please do NOT attend my office in person.

If none of the above apply to you, please call and arrange a time to stop by.  Please wash your hands prior to arrival.  I will be disinfecting doorknobs, countertops, etc.  While here, we will also do our best to maintain a safe distance from each other.

I am not sure what to bring.  What should I do?

You can call me by phone, or email me, and I will walk you through what I need you to bring.

Thank you all for your help in trying to limit the spread of this virus!
